Arizona Serve Welcomes New Tucson VISTA Team Leader Nour Rafeq

My name is Nour Rafeq and I am the AmeriCorps VISTA Team Leader for Arizona Serve in Tucson. I am excited and beyond fortunate to be joining an amazing team of individuals that is the Arizona Serve family!
A little bit about me: I am 25 years old, an Aries, and originally from the Middle East. I graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in both Political Science (with a focus in International Relations) and Arabic. I also recently completed a Master’s of Science in Leadership through Grand Canyon University. Since the age of seven, I have lived in the Tucson area with my mother, aunt, and grandmother as well.
In regards to my previous experience with Americorps, I completed two full terms of service at the state level with the University of Arizona’s CRR (Center for Retention & Recruitment of Math Teachers) as a School Engagement Specialist right after earning my bachelor’s degree. With this unique experience in hand, it showed me how much impact one person can have on a whole community. This served as my confirmation to continue on with my journey at AmeriCorps.
I am here today because I believe the positive impacts that volunteer service brings to communities are abundant.
